Streamlined Modern Awning

The client’s vision was for a streamlined modern awning that appeared to float effortlessly off the home—a deceptively simple look that required a completely custom, highly technical solution. Halliday Construction designed a one-of-a-kind structural system from the ground up, creating custom brackets and hidden supports to achieve the floating effect without any visible hardware. Standard solutions weren’t an option; this design demanded creativity, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of exterior construction, weather exposure, and load requirements.

To ensure the system would safely support the weight over time, Halliday Construction partnered with a structural engineer to verify the calculations—but the innovative design, detailing, and execution were entirely Jared Halliday. A specialty marine-grade cable system, typically used in large boat construction, was discreetly bolted into reinforced walls to provide hidden strength and stability. The result is a truly unique architectural feature that balances clean, modern aesthetics with uncompromising structural integrity.
